Research documents the dramatic impact viral suppression has on extending the lives of those living with HIV, and that it also substantially reduces new transmission. Thus, the need to improve along the care continuum plays a critical role in both care and prevention. Now in its final year, AIDS United’s Retention in Care (RiC) Initiative is a three-year partnership with the MAC AIDS Fund to identify, document and evaluate innovative, emerging or promising program models for improving retention in care. Organizations supported by RiC focus on populations that often experience some of the worst HIV-related health outcomes in the United States. The seven organizations that are a part of the RiC cohort are located in: Birmingham, AL; Bronx, NY; Charlottesville, VA; Philadelphia, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Prince Georges County, MD; and San Diego, CA.
At this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to discuss retention in care efforts within the RiC cohort, describe the rigorous national evaluation results-to-date, explain lessons learned, and interpret/demonstrate how information presented during this workshop can be used to improve retention in care efforts within their communities.
