Understanding & Challenging Drug-Related Stigma through the LGBTQI & Gender Non-conforming Lens (Harm Reduction Pathway)

This highly interactive training will give participants a distinct set of knowledge and skills to help them identify and address drug-related stigma as it pertains to the LGBTQI and gender non-conforming communities. It will examine the social context that creates & reinforces drug-related stigma in order to develop strategies for building more authentic and more productive relationships with clients along with the unique needs and challenges faced by this diverse community of LGBTQI and gender non-conforming people who use drugs and how to best incorporate specialized harm reduction strategies. As a result of this training, participants will have concrete ideas on how to implement individual and agency-wide changes to challenge stigma and fully embrace lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people who use drugs.
